Lauren-Claire Poitevent's Bio
Lauren-Claire Poitevent, 17, was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. The daughter of Mindy and Brian Poitevent, she has a sister, Sarah-Grace(12) and brother Beau(4).
Lauren-Claire has been dancing since the age of 2. At age 4, she took her very first audition at Casa Manana, Fort Worth’s premiere theatre, and landed a role in the Christmas show, Frosty the Snowman. She continued acting, dancing, and singing. In 5th grade, at age 11, she worked as an extra on Robert Rodriquez’s Spy Kids 2. It was then that she decided to transfer to the arts school. No one was surprised that within that year, she was cast in her first lead role as Claire in Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. As a result, she auditioned for Casa Manana’s highly regarded theater outreach group, Casa Kids. She was cast and made a one year commitment to this respected group. Since then, she has performed in numerous shows at Casa Manana, Bass Hall, Aledo Musicals, Artisan Center Theatre and Arlington Heights High School.
An incredibly self motivated, dedicated and professional, Lauren-Claire stands out from her peers. She knows what she wants and works hard to obtain her goals. A triple threat, she takes private voice and acting lessons as well as guitar (acoustic and electric) and piano lessons. She has trained with Paula Langton, Ken Cheeseman, Judith Chaffee, Nancy Chartier, J. Mack Slaughter, Betty Buckley, Dennis O’Neill, Lindy Cabe, D’Lytha Myers and Ann Hunter just to name a few. When most teenagers are hanging out, Lauren-Claire is usually insisting on taking more classes. She loves learning from other actors, musicians and dancers.
While many in this industry are home schooled, Lauren-Claire chose to attend a fine arts school, Arlington Heights High School. A large public school, it is known for having a strong drama program and dance program. School is important to Lauren-Claire. She pushed herself with Advanced Placement and honors classes. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, Performing Heights Theatre, Performing Heights Dance, Performing Heights Choir, Show Choir and UIL Theatre. She is a Radio Shack Scholar and a Heights Scholar. She has won honors at Stairway to the Stars and Fort Worth’s First Teen Idol Vocal Competition.
Lauren-Claire is now in her freshman year in the BFA Acting program at the prestigious Boston University. She could not be happier and is so thankful to be there.
She has worked on several television and film projects including a McDonald’s commercial, a Coca Cola promotional, a PBS industrial, and a Mary Kay industrial. She has also worked on numerous student films. Three summers ago she played the lead, Gabriella, in the musical High School Musical. It’s not only a great show; but it was filmed as a documentary for the Disney Channel and directed by the two time Academy Award winning director Barbara Koppel. The next summer she did the pilot production of High School Musical 2 which was the first staged version of the show. She spent a month in Los Angeles during pilot season and has decided that LA is the place for her.
She recently sang in the Christmas Parade of Lights and on the Channel 11 Christmas Morning Special. She has begun to sing at places around Boston including BU Central that is located on the Boston University campus.
